Description

An Economic Investigation of the Montane Tussock-Grassland of New Zealand [1918-1922] by Leonard Cockayne. Facsimile copy compiled by B. P. J. Molloy and printed by The Caxton Press, Christchurch, New Zealand. Dr Leonard Cockayne, the author of this work, was born on April 7th 1855 at Norton Lees, England, and came to New Zealand, via Australia in 1881. He never left New Zealand thereafter, apart from visits to the outlying islands, and died on July 8th 1934 at the age of 79. He is buried in the Otari Open-Air Native Plant Museum, Wellington, together with his wife Maude. He was 67 when he completed the work assembled here.
