His hunting career began when he was a youngster in Palmerston North, hunting rabbits and then deer in the nearby northern Tararuas. Since then he has hunted and fished extensively in the Ruahines, the southern Tararuas, Hawke's Bay and in the mountain ridges and valleys of Marlborough and Nelson and Otago. The book has a small patch where a sticker has been removed on the front cover and some light creases along the bottom pages but overal a tidy copy.
