George Bolt Pioneer Aviator
Description
George Bolt Pioneer Aviator.Aviation proper in New Zealand began in 1911, when Vivian Walsh made the country's first powered, sustained and controlled flight at Papakura in a Howard Wright biplane. In 1913 Vivian and his brother Leo began to build their own flying boat, which first took off from the waters of Waitemata Harbour on 1 January 1915. In the following year the Walsh brothers were argued into taking on, as an apprentice aeromechanic, a very young Dunedin-born Christchurch boy named George Bolt, who was destined to become their chief pilot and a brilliant aircraft engineer. This book has had the inside front end page removed and the dust jacket has tape repair. A personal loose photograph has stuck to an inside page unfortunately removing parts of print on page 68 but overall the book is bright and tight. A very important book of the history of New Zealand aviation.
