The Marsh Arabs by Wilfred Thesiger. The book is about the tribes that live in the Marshes of Iraq, around the junction of the Tigris and Euphrates. This area, covering some 6,000 square miles, is now closed to travellers and no previous explorer has had any experience of it comparable to the author's. Soon these marshes will probably be drained and a way of life which has lasted for thousands of years will disappear. (pre-1964). The dust jacket has light general wear with slight lifting of the clear laminate along the spine line. Price has been clipped and there is a small tape repair. The book remains in a tight and bright condition.
