The Art of Piobaireachd
Description
The Art of Piobaireachd. 'The Nature of Piobaireachd, It's Orrigins and History, The Hereditary Pipers and their Successors, Canntaireach, Piobaireachd Structure and Manner of Playing: Prepared in 1966 for the Wellington Class of Comunn an Piobaireachd (NZ) Inc by Ian McKay, and Revised in 1996. ' Ian McKay, of Wellington, received his early piping tuition from his brother Neville, and from Neil McPhee and Allan Guild. He studied piobaireachd in Scotland in 1952-53 under Robert U. Brown, supplemented by further tuition from Nevill McKay and again from R. UI. Brown in 1966 and 1971, and from R. B. Nicol in 1976. Brown and Nicol were pipers to Her Majesty at Balmoral, and had been pupils of John Macdonald of Inverness. Neville McKay was also a pupil of John Macdonald, and later of Brown and Nicol.' The book has light to medium general wear with white-out covering previous owners details but overall a tight and bright copy.
