Lasseter's Last Ride : An Epic of Central Australian Gold
Description
Lasseter's Last Ride : An Epic of Central Australian Gold Discovery. By Ion (Jack) Llewellyn Idriess. With a Foreword by Herbert Basedow, (Author of The Australian Aboriginal).'This story has been written from the related experiences of members of the expedition, and from the letters of Lasseter. The story of Lasseter's last adventures has been pieced together from the fragments of letters buried by him beneath the ashes of his camp-fires and found by Bob Buck when he was searching for the lost prospector. Lasseter's body was found in March 1931 (Or was it? Buck would not swear to it!) and Jack published the first five editions of Lasseter's Last Ride between September 1931 and February 1932. So his work was more-or-less contemporary with the search and the later controversy surrounding Lasseter. It has been suggested that each of the first five editions of Lasseter's Last Ride differed as new information emerged and Jack updated his first book.' The dust jacket has medium to heavy wear with missing chips and rough edges but now fitted with clear protective covers and price is unclipped. The book has a slight slant and light general wear but remains tight and bright. Previous owners name or inscription on inside front and back pages.
