The Yellow Book : A Selection
Description
The Yellow Book : A Selection of Literature and Black and White Art works. Compiled by Norman Denny. Bibliographic Note - 'The first quarterly of The Yellow Book, priced five shillings, appeared in April 1894, under the joint imprint of Elkin Mathews and John Lane; but from the third volume onwards it was published by John Lane alone. The editor throughout was Henry Holland. Aubrey Beadsley was art editor of the first five volumes, being succeeded by John Lane. The thirteenth and last volume appeared in April, 1897. All the volumes were reprinted. They were, however, not sold to the trade in the ordinary way, but were circulated by what can only be described as irregular methods and passed off as first editions. A later generation at the Bodley Head make this painful avowal in the interest of truth.' Ex Library Book with all the usual stamps and markings.
