Lords of the Blue Pacific
Description
Lords of the Blue Pacific by Robert C. Suggs. The scattered and lovely islands of Polynesia, the Kingdom of the 'Lords of the Blue Pacific', lie in an area stretching from New Zealand, 4,300 mile north-east to Hawaii, 4,000 miles south-west to Easter Island, and back westward 4,800 miles across the vast Southern Pacific to New Zealand again. Many hundreds of years ago the Polynesians, as we know them today, in open canoes held together by cords and pegs, and with only the the stars to guide them, sailed to and inhabited the islands. Where they came from - the Asian mainland or South America - is still disputed, but so vast is the great Pacific Ocean that by any standards it was a truly remarkable feat of seamanship. The dust jacket has light general wear and price unclipped/ The book remains tight and bright. Previous owners name or inscription on inside front page.
