Cockleshell Heroes (Hard Cover)
Description
Cockleshell Heroes by C. E. Lucas Phillips with the co-operation of Lieutenant-Colonel H. G. Hasler and with a Foreword by Admiral The Earl Mountbatten of Burma. 'Cockleshell Heroes is the story of one of the most daring and spectacular raids of the war, the achievement of a handful of Royal Marines in the face of what Lord Mountbatten describes in his Foreword as "frightening losses" and which a German officer has called the outstanding commando raid of the war. Entirely authentic in all its details, this book has been written from the official records and personal narratives of those who took part, especially the leader, Lieutenant-Colonel H. G. Hasler, D.S.O., O.B.E., who, having consistently refused repeated request to tell his inspiring story, finally consented to reveal it to the author, Brigadier Lucas Phillips.' The dust jacket is in a very poor condition with rips and tears and missing chips and tape repair (now covered in Mylar protector). The book however remains tight and bright.
