Steam Locomotive Collection by K. D. S. Fairgray. 'The resurrection of the disused portion of the Waiuku Branch Railway in South Auckland - from Glenbrook to Cornwall Road - form the basis of what now has become the Glenbrook Vintage Railway. Shortly before the closure of the Waiuku Branch as such, in 1968, the Railway Enthusiasts' Society began examining the possibilities of converting this section of track into a private working railway operated by old steam and diesel locomotives and vintage carriages common in the past but now otherwise obsolete. Similar railways with nostalgic and historical interest, have become tourist attractions in many countries throughout the world.'
