Right-hand fingering will be specified by the examiner for single-note scales only. Any logical and effective left-hand fingering will be accepted. Due attention should be given at all times to clarity and quality of tone and to a maximum control of legato. A firm, even attack is expected and, where applicable, the use of 'apoyando' is recommended for both scales and arpeggios. Tempi chosen should be appropriate to the technical demands of each grade.'
