Description

A Memoir of Alice Howie Muir by Helen Jackman. Alice Howie Dickie born in 1916 and lived on a farm in Tuturau in Southland until she was 22. Her trip to the world Christian Endeavour Convention at Melbourne was the first of many changes. Two years at the Presbyterian Women's Training Institute were followed by several months work in the Papanui Boys' home, itself the preface to two years' nursing. Then came marriage in 1943, and for six months she was the Lady of the Taihape Manse. Next came a year of pioneering and beginnings in the New Hebrides. Then on November 18, 1945, the story closed abruptly with her premature death at the age of 29.
