Delinquent Days (Hard Cover )
Description
Delinquent Days by John A. Lee. ' These are the lost years in John A. Lee's autobiography. It starts when he is at Burnham Industrial School doing long years of penance for some minor crime - the sort of peccadillo of which most boys are guilty - but for which few are caught. He hated Burnham-not for its restrictions and discipline, but for its complete failure to provide any nourishment for his mind. In those days the boys got nothing to read - were given neither trade, nor therapeutic training. He ran away, was caught, sent back, and flogged. He ran away again - and stayed away. Always on the move, he got job after job - mostly in the remote back-country - but fear of Burnham made him move on every time a policeman appeared on the horizon.' The dust jacket is well worm with much tape repair and missing chips (now covered with protective Mlylar). The book remains tight and bright.
