Widowed: A Personal Account
Description
Widowed: A Personal Account by Beryl Te Wiata. 'Beryl Te Wiata started this book while struggling with the first months and early years of widowhood. 'I certainly didn't want to sit alone writing about sadness and death but nevertheless I was determined to do so. At the time I so desperately needed it. I was unable to find a book which would help me in the way I required. None had been written from personal experience - they all discussed widowhood from the outside. I had not intended to take so long in putting it together, but the result is that the book illustrates the way my feelings changes, how physical ailments could be seen as relating to the stress of berevement and - most importantly of all - how I gradually gained confidence and an assurance which enabled me to tackle projects of which I would never have believed myself capable. When the manuscrip was finally completed I was asked what my qualification were for writing such a book. "Qualifications?" I echoed with a sense of panic. Then I replied, "I have only one qualification. Personal experience..." The book has some staining down the page edges and a previous owner's inscription has been whited out along the top of the inside cover but the book remains tight and bright.
